real development work
Today I got an email from this European funding organization, they told me that the position im applying for requires work experience to at least 2 countries. I obviously only have one.
It made me think, I need more experience that surely I wont get from here. I think I gathered more experience (development knowledge) from that four months of fieldwork as a student than my almost one year of working as junior executive for this multinational corporation. I call myself a development worker, we believe in people empowerment and participatory action, I don’t think im practicing those here.
Earlier I sent my application to this new NGO and found myself on a phone interview with the Chairman 2 hours later. He said that I’m accomplished for a lady my age and that my reason for leaving this job is admirable.
hopefully I’ll be able to land a job I love *sigh*
